Description

The simplest way to start

The PropolAir A1 is the most affordable diffuser we sell, and the one most people begin with. It is a small, light unit in a modern white casing: easy to move between rooms, and small enough to pack for a trip.

It works the same way as every diffuser in the range. The device gently warms a capsule of organic propolis until the aromatic, volatile part of the resin is released into the room. There is no water, no mist and no flame — just the scent of the hive.

The facts

  • Compact white casing. The smallest and lightest diffuser in the range, and the easiest to pack.
  • Covers up to 35 m². Most bedrooms, living rooms and home offices. For a larger or open-plan room, the L3 and the Propol Therapy A4 have a fan that doubles the reach to 60 m².
  • No ioniser. The A2 is the same diffuser with one built in.
  • Runs on organic propolis capsules. One is included, and it lasts up to 122 hours — roughly five days of continuous use, or fifteen days at eight hours a day.
  • Certified organic propolis. Kontak’s propolis is organic under EU Regulation 2018/848, sourced from Alpine apiaries and tested free from pesticides, heavy metals and antibiotics. Our guide to what that certificate covers explains what it guarantees, and what it does not.
  • Two-year warranty from the date of purchase.

A1 or A2?

They are the same diffuser. The A2 adds a built-in ioniser, which releases negatively charged ions that attach to floating particles such as dust and pollen, making them cluster together and settle onto surfaces rather than staying suspended.

That earns its place in a dustier room or a busier one. In a small, quiet bedroom, the A1 does the same core job for less.

The capsules

The A1 runs on the same organic propolis capsules as the rest of the range, so you are never locked into one blend. There are six, and they all cost much the same and last the same 122 hours — the difference is what the room smells like.

  • Pure — propolis on its own. A quiet honey-resin note.
  • Boswellia — propolis with Boswellia resin. Warm and balsamic.
  • Breath — eucalyptus, mountain pine and spruce. A cool, resinous pine-forest note.
  • Purify — tea tree, thyme and lemon. Sharp and herbal, with a citrus lift.
  • Relax — lavender, Arolla pine and sweet orange. Soft and floral, for evenings.
  • Repell — geranium, lemongrass and peppermint. Zesty and cool, for open-window months.

Each box holds five capsules.

How to use it

  1. Insert one organic propolis capsule.
  2. Switch the diffuser on to begin gentle heat diffusion.
  3. When the diffuser signals that the capsule has finished, replace it and reset the diffuser.

Each capsule is for single use. Always check the manual that comes with your diffuser, which is the final word on settings.

Not sure the A1 is the one?

There are eleven diffusers in the range, and the differences are not obvious from a product grid.

Quality Assurance

So, just what is Propolis? Propolis is made from the resinous substances exuded by trees and other plants. These often sticky substances are used by the plants as a mechanism to protect the plants and their new young buds.

Many of us including children know about sticky buds and this substance is collected by the honey bee. Once collected the bees process the propolis into a beneficial product for the welfare of the beehive and the bees.

In natural woodland the sun warms up the buds of plants and the volatile fraction of the sticky substance is spread in to the local environment providing a pleasant aroma within the woods. This pleasant atmosphere has become known for its therapeutic properties which is why Sanatoriums used to be built in wooded areas where people could benefit from the ‘fresh air’ thereby aiding their recovery and recuperation.

KONTAK has developed and patented an innovative system that diffuses the volatile components of propolis into the environment. This system is the only one of its kind able to fully exploit the sanitising properties and the probiotic action of propolis into the air. This system is now available in the UK.

KONTAK propolis is only sourced from unpolluted areas, by beekeepers that live in the Alps, far away from urban, industrial and nuclear pollution. It does not contain any heavy metals, pesticides or antibiotics. KONTAK combines its passion for propolis with a scientific approach, investing in research and development, and continuous collaboration with doctors and relevant specialists.

"I own 3 propolis machines and there are 4 more at my office. I have recommended the product to several people. I know that at least 3 of them now use the product – one of them has a machine in every room of her house."
