Description

Repell – The summer blend

80% certified organic Italian propolis, 20% organic essential oils of geranium, lemongrass and peppermint — three botanicals traditionally chosen for rooms in the warmer months.

When a PropolAir diffuser warms the capsule, the volatile fraction of the propolis is released alongside the three oils. Lemongrass leads, bright and sharp, with cool peppermint behind it and sweet, herbaceous geranium underneath. It is the zestiest of our six blends.

This is the one people reach for with the windows open, on a covered patio, or in a room that has been warm all afternoon.

Important: room diffusion only

This capsule is not suitable for the Propol Therapy A4’s aerosol programme, or for the adult or child inhalation masks. It is formulated for room diffusion.

If you want to use the aerosol programme, use the Pure or Boswellia capsule instead. Both work just as well for ordinary room diffusion, so many A4 owners keep a box of one of those for mask sessions and use any blend they like for the room.

The facts

  • 80% propolis, 20% essential oils. Geranium, lemongrass and peppermint, all organic.
  • Certified organic propolis. Organic under EU Regulation 2018/848, certified by BIOS Srl, sourced from Alpine apiaries and tested free from pesticides, heavy metals and antibiotics. Our guide to what that certificate covers sets out what it guarantees, and what it does not.
  • Five capsules per box. Each one runs for up to 122 hours: roughly five days of continuous use, or about fifteen days at eight hours a day.
  • Fits every diffuser we sell, for room diffusion. Basic, ioniser, fan, wood, ash and bee-shaped models alike. If you do not have one yet, see our full range of propolis diffusers.
  • Room size comes from the diffuser. Most models cover up to 35 m²; the two with a fan, the L3 and the Propol Therapy A4, reach 60 m².
  • For use in diffusers only. Not for swallowing, and not for direct inhalation. Always read the label on the box.

About the name

Geranium, lemongrass and peppermint have been burned and warmed around open windows for a very long time, which is where the name comes from. We describe this capsule by its scent rather than by what it does, and we make no claim that it keeps insects away. If that is what you need, buy a product authorised and tested for the job.

Why a finished capsule does not look empty

When the volatile fraction has been released, the diffuser beeps. The capsule will still look between a quarter and three-quarters full, because non-volatile material such as beeswax stays behind. That is normal, and it does not mean you are throwing away a capsule early.

The reverse is also true: a capsule that looks empty after a few hours has not finished. Trust the beep, not the appearance.

How to use them

  1. Insert one capsule into your diffuser.
  2. Switch the diffuser on. On the Propol Therapy A4, choose the room programme, not the aerosol programme.
  3. When the diffuser beeps, replace the capsule and reset the diffuser.

Each capsule is for single use. Always check your diffuser’s manual, which is the final word on settings.

The other five blends

Every blend fits every diffuser for room use, and all six last the same 122 hours. The difference is what the room smells like.

  • Pure — propolis on its own, nothing added. A quiet honey-resin note, and suitable for the aerosol masks.
  • Boswellia — propolis with Boswellia resin. Warm and balsamic, and also suitable for the masks.
  • Breath — eucalyptus, mountain pine and spruce. A cool, resinous pine-forest note.
  • Purify — tea tree, thyme and lemon. Sharp and herbal, with a citrus lift.
  • Relax — lavender, Arolla pine and sweet orange. Soft and floral, for evenings.

This blend contains peppermint and other essential oils. Some essential oils are generally not recommended around babies and very young children, so if the diffuser will run in a child’s room, check the manufacturer’s guidance and speak to a pharmacist or GP first. The Pure capsule contains no added essential oils.

So, just what is Propolis? Propolis is made from the resinous substances exuded by trees and other plants. These often sticky substances are used by the plants as a mechanism to protect the plants and their new young buds.
Many of us including children know about sticky buds and this substance is collected by the honey bee. Once collected the bees process the propolis into a beneficial product for the welfare of the beehive and the bees.

In a natural woodland the sun warms up the buds of plants and the volatile fraction of the sticky substance is spread in to the local environment providing a pleasant aroma within the woods. This pleasant atmosphere has become known for its therapeutic properties which is why Sanatoriums used to be built in wooded areas where people could benefit from the 'fresh air' thereby aiding their recovery and recuperation.

KONTAK has developed and patented an innovative system that diffuses the volatile components of propolis into the environment. This system is the only one of its kind able to fully exploit the sanitising properties and the probiotic action of propolis into the air.

KONTAK propolis is only sourced from unpolluted areas, far away from urban, industrial and nuclear pollution. It does not contain any heavy metals, pesticides or antibiotics. KONTAK combines its passion for propolis with a scientific approach, investing in research and development, and continuous collaboration with doctors and relevant specialists.
